ACFA/IPAC'13 Accelerator Prizes

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The ACFA/IPAC'13 Accelerator Prizes are for individuals with no restriction as to nationality. They are:


a. An Achievement Prize for an individual, for outstanding work in the accelerator field with no age limit. The winner will receive a plaque, and make an oral presentation during the Accelerator Prizes Special Session during IPAC'13 on Thursday, 16 May, 2013.



b. A Prize for an individual, having made a recent, significant, original contribution to the accelerator field with no age limit. The winner will receive a plaque, and make an oral presentation during the Accelerator Prizes Special Session during IPAC'13 on Thursday, 16 May, 2013.



c. A Prize for an individual, in the early part of his or her career, having made a recent significant, original contribution to the accelerator field. The winner will receive a framed certificate, and a cash prize of RMB25000, and will also make an oral presentation during the Accelerator Prizes Special Session during IPAC'13 on Thursday, 16 May, 2013.




d. Prizes for best student posters, will be awarded to 2 students whose posters, presented in the special student poster session, are particularly meritorious. Each winner will receive a cash prize of RMB5000, presented during the Accelerator Prizes Special Session during IPAC'13 on Thursday, 16 May 2013.

Preliminary nominations for prizes a), b) and c), consisting of a brief description of the candidate (date of birth, professional activities) and a justification for the award of the prize, must be received by e-mail to the Prizes Committee Secretariat by the deadline of

The Selection Committee will thereafter prepare a shortlist, and request formal proposals to be submitted electronically. Formal proposals must include a curriculum vitae, a list of relevant publications with copies of up to three of the most significant, and letters of reference from one or more proposers, justifying the nomination.

Best Student Posters

All students wishing to present their work in the special student poster session and compete for the best student poster prizes, must apply using the form accessible via JACoW profiles in the IPAC'13 SPMS, by the deadline for the submission of abstracts to the conference

In selecting the winning posters, emphasis will be given to quality of presentation and clarity of communication in the poster. Quality and originality of research will also be an important factor. Posters will be judged on:

• Scientific merit: quality and significance of the work;
• Presentation: clarity of communication; appropriate use of text, diagrams/images and graphs; overall appearance of the poster;
• Student's contribution: the work may be carried out within a team or large collaboration; however, the extent to which the student has made a leading or critical contribution should be made clear
